Acting as the first point of contact on the sample preparation floor, you will work closely with the Supervisor to ensure day-to-day operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with site procedures.This role bridges the gap between the Supervisor and floor Operators, providing hands-on guidance and support to the team while maintaining strong personal productivity.Training will be provided for the right candidate.Opportunities for multi-skilling within the department are available, with the potential for advancement into leadership roles.This **full-time** position requires the ability to work a rotating shift schedule:* Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM* Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM* Night Shift: 10 PM – 6 AMThis is a leadership role with the following responsibilities:* Coordinating production for your shift (day, afternoon, or night shift)* Ensuring shift tasks are completed and the coordination of shift handover* Assisting in troubleshooting* Assisting with operations when needed* Training staff in operating mineral sample preparation equipment (sample sorting, drying, weighing samples using a balance and LIMS system, crushing samples, etc.) **The essentials*** An understanding of the sample preparation process or experience with ALS systems* Ability to work with minimum supervision* Ability to lead, supervise and instruct team members* Be adaptable and able to multitask* Availability to work rotating shifts* Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills* A strong commitment to safety and client service* Excellent attention to detailThis is a challenging role, and although safety and quality of work must be maintained, the ability to work at a pace that suits the demands of the position is essential.**Working at ALS**The ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.Our values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.At ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
