**Engineering Manager (Platform Engineering)**
**Full-Time Permanent Opportunity**
The Engineering Manager (Platform Engineering) is a key people and technical leader responsible for leading a team of Engineers in pursuit of the team's mission
- enabling development teams to rapidly build, deliver and operate high quality products through the provision of tooling, automation and expertise. They play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions while fostering a culture of accountability, Technical and Operational Excellence.
Engineering Managers partner closely with a Product Manager to set the direction for the team and drive the delivery outcomes. They have a strong technical background and are not afraid to roll up their sleeves on delivery tasks when required to help the team achieve its goals. Their focus, however, is on people, technical, and delivery leadership as well as the health and availability of the production systems.
Engineering Managers are responsible for team health and the performance and growth of the Engineers within it. They uplift capability through coaching, mentoring and hiring to ensure the team is well placed to tackle the unique challenges within their domain. They foster collaboration and alignment within and across teams to achieve organisational objectives. They typically become Subject Matter Experts for their domain.
**What are we looking for?**
**Technical**:
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 1 year in a leadership or management role tackling people, operational excellence and delivery challenges.
- Strong technical background with expertise in modern software development practices, tools, and technologies. Ideally experience with a variety of technology stacks and programming languages.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex software projects on time and within scope.
- Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and architectures (e.g., AWS, microservices) is a plus.
- Good understanding of database technologies.
- Experience working with various tools to design, orchestrate, test, build, release & monitor your work.
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
**Ways of Working**:
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and processes, e.g. Scrum, Kanban.
- Experience with employing Extreme Programming (XP) practices such as TDD and pair programming.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
- Prior involvement with production support / incident response beneficial.
- Knowledge of good Application Security practices.
