Platform Engineer – Tooling and Automation Are you a high‑performing Platform Engineer who specialises in automation, tooling, and system optimisation? About the Role This is not a standard engineering role. You’ll work closely with our Operations Architect, taking ownership of our tooling and automation ecosystem (including ConnectWise) to:
- Reduce cost-to-serve through automation
- Enable engineers to operate more effectively at scale You will play a key role in transforming how TechOps operates. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement automation and workflow improvements across our MSP tooling stack
- Own and optimise ConnectWise Manage configuration, workflows, agreements, and integrations
- Build and manage end-to-end automation workflows using platforms such as Rewst and ConnectWise RPA
- Identify operational inefficiencies and solve them through tooling, automation, and process design
- Drive standardisation and consistency across ticketing, triage, and service delivery
- Ensure all solutions are well‑documented, scalable, and adopted by the wider team
- Act as a Level 4 escalation point for complex platform and tooling issues What You’ll Bring Core Experience
- 5+ years’ experience within a Managed Services (MSP) environment
- Proven track record of delivering measurable improvements through automation and tooling
- Deep, hands‑on experience with ConnectWise Manage, including:
- Workflow rules, ticket routing, and automation design
- Agreements, billing structures, and service boards
- API usage, integrations, and orchestration across tools
- Optimising ticket lifecycle, triage, and SLA performance
- Identifying and reducing manual effort, ticket noise, and rework
- Engineered end‑to‑end platform automation and optimisation (user‑level role not sought) Technical Capability
- Strong background in Infrastructure and Cloud (Azure preferred)
- Experience with automation and orchestration platforms, such as Rewst
- Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, APIs, Python, webhooks)
- Exposure to DevOps principles and system thinking
- Experience working across MSP tooling such as monitoring and alerting tools Mindset & Approach
