The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Engineer
- System Safety to join our Systems Engineering, Integration and Test team in Brisbane. This position will be on offered on a fixed-term basis for a period of 6 months. As an Engineer
- System Safety, you will play a critical role in applying systems safety engineering principles to identify, analyse, and mitigate safety risks throughout the system lifecycle. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop safety requirements, conduct hazard analyses, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Responsibilities
* Define and document safety requirements aligned with regulatory standards and customer expectations.
* Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments using techniques such as FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis.
* Develop and execute safety verification and validation plans.
* Lead safety reviews including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Safety Design Reviews (SDR).
* Prepare and maintain comprehensive safety documentation
* Ensure that all safety engineering activities comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and enterprise policies.
* Prepare and maintain comprehensive safety documentation, including safety plans, hazard logs, and safety assessment reports.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate safety findings, provide updates, and ensure alignment on safety objectives.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety engineering practices. Essential:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety engineering, or related field.
* 6+ years of experience in systems safety engineering, including hazard analysis and safety verification.
* Proficiency with safety engineering methodologies (FMEA, FTA) and aerospace standards (ARP****, DO-178C, DO-254).
* Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
* Familiarity with safety analysis tools and software. Desirable:
* Certifications such as Certified Safety Skilled (CSP) or Functional Safety Engineer (FSE).
* Experience in aerospace safety-critical systems. Eligibility
* Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements
* Able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
