Defence Network Solution Architect (Queensland)

Role Title: Network Solution Architect Role Description: Responsible for producing and/or reviewing Project documentation and supplier deliverables as part of the One Defence Capability System (ODCS) Gate 2 process and Acquisition stages of the project. Major areas of responsibility
- Responsible on behalf of the project for the services architecture and design
- Reviewing contractor documentation.
- Guide and manage the DDG system integration requirements for the project. High level deliverables 1. Provide architectural support, advice, guidance and additional information as required 2. Participate in the ICT Architecture working group 3. Produce necessary ICT architectural documentation to support System Engineering Design (SED) for the F-AMTS ICT system 4. Participate in SED development activities and workshops 5. Contribute to other project related documents 6. Where required, participate in Contract Negotiations 7. Work with Project Engineering Manager to develop the needs and requirements into valid system specifications. 8. Analyse vendor design specification, OCD, FPS, and develop technical interface designs that align to Defence patterns. 9. Support the development test and evaluation plans to provide traceability of the design. 10. Participate in working groups to develop interface control agreements with supporting service providers. 11. Manage the delivery and outcome of industry work packages to ensure it complies with the commonwealth statement of work Essential Requirements
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or similar
- Strong working knowledge in cyber‑security
- Robust working knowledge of systems engineering processes, specifically:
- Requirements analysis and definition
- System interface specifications
- Development and articulation of Operating Concepts (and supporting documentation)
- 5+ years’ experience in mixed Architectural and Solution Delivery in large Networks / Systems, preferably in the Defence environment:
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex technical solutions / options and develop recommendations
- Able to appreciate the business context in which the systems operate.
- Timely decision‑making.
- Demonstrated experience in problem solving, planning and seeking opportunities for improvement.
- Strong written and verbal communication including but not limited to development of:
- Meeting minutes
- Project Briefings (written and verbal)
- Strong negotiation skills including good listening skills to understand subtle business and technical issues Desirable Requirements
- Experience in the defence domain Required Security Clearance Level: NV1 Location: Canberra. Note that some domestic travel may be required. Hours: 80hr per fortnight, as agreed with client.
