Position Overview
The Telecommunications Technical Officer / Technologist will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing our telecommunications infrastructure. This includes installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of telecommunication systems to ensure reliable and efficient communication services.

Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment and systems (e.g wireless networks).
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on telecommunication infrastructure.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize service disruptions.
• Support network upgrades, expansions, and system enhancements.
• Conduct performance testing and monitoring to ensure optimal network reliability.
• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams during projects and technical implementations.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, inventory records, and system logs.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to end-users and colleagues.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry best practices.

Qualifications & Skills Required:
• Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, ICT, or related field.
• Proven experience in telecommunications systems, network equipment, or related technical roles.
• Strong understanding of communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, VoIP, RF, fiber optics).
• Experience with installation and maintenance of network hardware (routers, switches, PBX, wireless systems).
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license may be required for fieldwork.
Preferred / Advantageous:
• Knowledge of fiber optic testing and splicing
• Experience with RF coverage surveys and wireless network optimization.
• Experience in regulated environments (e.g., utilities, government, enterprise networks).
