Cook / Deli Assistant The Cook at our Continental Deli plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, flavorful, and authentic continental cuisine to our valued customers. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of dishes, serving and greeting customers, preparing and packaging deli items, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and contributing to the overall success of our deli. Job Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Prepare and cook continental food, including sandwiches, salads, meals and other deli items, following standardized recipes and ensuring adherence to quality and presentation standards.
- Customer Service: Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner, assist with inquiries, provide product recommendations, and deliver outstanding service to ensure a positive and memorable experience for our customers.
- Packaging and Display: Package deli items accurately and aesthetically, ensuring proper labeling and attractive presentation to enhance visual appeal and maximize customer satisfaction.
- Stock Management: Monitor and maintain stock levels of deli ingredients, supplies, and packaging materials, notifying the supervisor or manager of any shortages.
- Cleanliness and Sanitation: Follow proper hygiene practices, including maintaining cleanliness of work areas, equipment, utensils, and display cases, in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Cash Handling: Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the deli team, ensuring effective communication, supporting each other in daily tasks, and contributing to a positive work environment.
- Product Knowledge: Stay informed about deli offerings, including ingredients, flavors, and preparation techniques, to provide accurate information and assistance to customers.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, including proper handling and storage of food items, maintaining cleanliness of personal hygiene, and following safety protocols to minimize hazards. Position Requirements and personal attributes:
- Culinary Experience: Proven experience as a cook in a deli or similar food establishment, with expertise in continental cuisine.
- Knowledge of Continental Cuisine: Solid understanding of continental flavors, ingredients, cooking techniques, and presentation styles.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail to ensure consistent quality and presentation of dishes.
- Time Management Skills: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
- Food Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with food safety regulations and proper hygiene practices in a commercial kitchen.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with the kitchen team and other staff members to achieve common goals and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform repetitive tasks as required in a deli setting
- Adaptability: Flexibility to work in various shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.
