About the School Alkimos College is looking to appoint a committed, skilled, and enthusiastic teacher with a specialisation in Japanese language education. Located in the northern suburb of Alkimos with sweeping ocean views, Alkimos College opened in 2020 with our foundation Year 7 cohort, providing local intake area students with access to an exceptional secondary education in world-class learning facilities. Each year we have added an additional cohort and reached our full complement of Year 7‑12 in 2025. Stage 1 buildings include administration, lower school student services, library, gymnasium, fitness centre, food studios, cafeteria, Information Technology labs, technologies workshops, general classrooms, science laboratories, and nature play area. Shared oval and community facilities with the City of Wanneroo are available via the adjacent Halesworth Park precinct. Stage 2 (rolled out in 2024) included a new Specialised Autism Learning Program (SALP) centre (Home Room and SALP classroom), performing arts centre, lecture theatre, senior school student services centre, general classrooms, hospitality centre and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) classroom. Languages was first introduced at Alkimos College in 2022 to Year 7 students. Over the last four years it has expanded to be delivered across Years 7 to 10 and now into senior school this year with a combined Year 11 ATAR and General class. Role The successful applicant will ideally be an enthusiastic Japanese language teacher who is dedicated to achieving excellence in teaching and learning. The applicant should use their professional knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary languages curriculum. Recent experience in teaching Year 7 to 11 Languages is highly desirable in the context of this role, however graduates are welcome to apply. The successful applicant will ideally adopt the college’s wide instructional framework based on explicit teaching and instructional skills, strategies and tactics. They will ideally be committed to personal and professional growth and will embrace opportunities for collaboration. The successful applicant will ideally possess the ability to develop innovative classroom practices and utilise Information Communication Technology (ICT) to provide integrated, personalised and authentic learning experiences for students. A key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are fun, purposeful, relevant and cater for differing student learning needs.
