- Diverse and interesting work in a growth Council This role is offered at 0.6 FTE (45.6 hours per fortnight) with flexible working arrangements. About the Role The City is seeking a Volunteer Development Officer with a robust understanding of all aspects of volunteer coordination. The successful candidate will have knowledge of volunteer recruitment and retention, volunteering programs, volunteer management practices, the development and maintenance of resources (including volunteering software), and the application of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2020 to volunteer activities. In this role you will:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the City’s Volunteer Program, coordinating all related activities.
- Review, refine, and improve existing volunteer operations in line with established policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all City volunteer related processes, policies and resources comply with the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2020.
- Review and implement improvements to the City's Volunteer Management System, to maximise functionality, streamline processes and capture WHS Act requirements.
- Lead and facilitate training to staff and/or volunteers.
- Communicate and partner with a range of customers and stakeholders.
- Prepare documents and reports tailored to the audience and the intended outcome.
- Resolve operational issues with diplomacy, efficiency and attention to risk management. About You Applicants must be able to demonstrate through their CV and covering letter that they meet the following capabilities:
- Experience in volunteer program management (essential).
- Qualification in relevant discipline such as community development, or equivalent (desirable).
- Intermediate research and analysis skills (essential).
- Advanced organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks (essential).
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills (essential).
- Experience in system improvement and implementation (essential).
- Experience in project management (essential).
- Experience working in local government (desirable).
- Intermediate customer service, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to manage conflict and competing expectations (desirable). Successful applicants may be required to work occasional weekends and evenings which forms part of the ordinary hours of work for this position (additional rates apply).
