Description
As a **First Line Manager** based in **Clayton, Victoria**, you will report to the Plant Manager. You will manage the daily operations of the Industrial and Packaging coatings within the manufacturing work cells at the Clayton Plant.
You will also ensure the current production requirements and targets of the sections are met, regarding product quality, customer service, and EH&S; and these are achieved at or below budgeted cost.
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensure Plant production is conducted within the Company and statutory Environment, Health and Safety regulations, and other accreditations within the PPG Guidelines.
- Actively contribute to EH&S; programs and promote EH&S; policies, procedures, and practices.
- Lead and manage manufacturing initiatives in production area following company objectives to drive and monitor production to achieve production targets, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational performance.
- Ensure the production outputs meet/exceed targets daily, weekly, monthly, and annual.
- Improve productivity and operational efficiency by minimizing waste, and overtime, and aids manufacturing to reduce unit costs.
- Manage metrics include OTIF, Stock Availability, Forecast Accuracy, Inventory, and yield.
- Ensure compliance with PPG financial procedures.
- Sustain and manage a strong performance culture in manufacturing with all levels of employees through communication processes, skill gap analysis, and effective training solutions.
- Develop and maintain an environment that allows employees to contribute to business objectives by managing standards of behaviours and performance within the work teams.
- Any other duties required to meet the objectives of the role.
- Establish and maintain a close working relationship with Manufacturing, Engineering Department, EH&S;, Supply Chain, and technical departments.
- Assist internal and external customers to meet required quality and cost targets by ensuring PPG resins' effective performance and quality.
**Requirements**:
- Chemical or engineering-based tertiary qualifications.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience or substantial relevant manufacturing experience managing people.
- Knowledge of modern paint, resin technologies & processes is an added advantage.
- Good report writing skills.
- Understanding and experience using best practice manufacturing techniques such as Lean and Sigma.
