**Quality and Clinical Governance Unit at Monash Health**
Led by the Chief Medical Officer and working closely with key stakeholders, the Quality & Clinical Governance Unit supports our Program leaders to embed strong clinical governance processes. This is critical to underpin the delivery of safe and effective care to every patient, every time.
We now have a fantastic chance for an outstanding clinical professional to join our well-regarded Quality & Clinical Governance Unit team in a full time, permanent position.
**About the Role**
As a member of the Quality & Clinical Governance Unit, the Quality Consultant, utilises their skills and knowledge to ensure that SAPSE reviews, and SDC processes occurs in a timely and effective manner across Monash Health, to deliver improved clinical outcomes and patient experience. You key responsibilities will comprise:
- ensuring that serious adverse patient safety events (SAPSEs) reviews (e.g. sentinel events [SE] reviews or serious incident reviews [SIRs]) are conducted using a standardised methodology.
- working closely with the Programs and Patient Experience team to facilitate timely and effective Statutory Duty of Candour (SDC) for all SAPSEs.
- producing both high level and patient friendly SAPSE review and SDC business reports
- sharing the lessons of a SAPSE review more broadly across the organisation
- building capability across the organisation, through participating/leading education sessions
- lead and participate in projects aimed at improving the SAPSE review process and training program with key stakeholders to drive organisation wide improvement.
**About You**:
- Clinical experience in an acute hospital setting, with at least 5 years’ experience is an advantage.
- Experience in reviewing clinical (patient safety) incidents or outcomes.
- Excellent writing skills including the ability to prepare business reports using clear, concise language; to organise information into a logical sequence and include content appropriate for the purpose and audience (e.g. staff, patient and consumer).
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance principles, and understanding of a just culture.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake continuous quality improvement using the accepted improvement methodology
- Exceptional interpersonal and engagement skills with demonstrated ability to interact with clinicians as well as other staff at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong organisational skills to ensure tight deadlines are met.
- Excellent presentation skills to broad audiences.
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance principles.
- An understanding of the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards or similar an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate participation in review and improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a range of complex tasks within and across a number of areas at the one time.
- Positive attitude in facilitating change and adopting new concepts.
**What you need**: Current AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency) registration and proven clinical experience is a mandatory requirement for this role.
