Criminal Lawyer (Cleveland)

The role will include Working in the Criminal Law and Domestic Violence department of the Practice; and Appearing in the Cleveland Magistrates Court as Criminal Law Duty Lawyer; and The successful applicant will also be required to regularly appear in other Magistrate, District and Supreme Courts, throughout the State of Queensland; and Working alongside Barristers as well as other stakeholders, such as the Police Prosecution, Director of Public Prosecution, Court staff, forensic psychologists etc; and The position requires a full-time candidate to work 5 days a week, from 8.30am to 5:00pm. Responsibilities The successful Applicant will Be highly motivated, driven to work autonomously and be a team player; and Need to appear in all Courts throughout Queensland (but predominantly, Cleveland); and Need to be a clear and concise advocate; and Be able to consider the evidence of the Prosecution against the law and case law authorities and be able to give a detailed legal opinion; and Have good writing and computer skills; and Be able to brief a Barrister with explicit and concise instructions. Qualifications and Skills Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Solicitor; and A good knowledge and experience in criminal law and domestic violence matters; and Proficiency in drafting. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with referrers, clients, and other stakeholders.
