Senior Correctional Officer (SCO) Corrective Services New South Wales (CSNSW) Talent Pool Creation for future ongoing full‑time Senior Correctional Officer roles – Security Operations Group (SOG) – Operations and K9 Unit. Location: SOG – Statewide NSW. Salary: $94,451 per annum fixed, plus incidental allowance of $5,765 per annum. About The Role Provide a high standard of security and assistance to Governors, senior management and officers in charge of correctional centres within NSW, including K9 support, to assist with detection and the maintenance of positive order, discipline, safety and security of Correctional Centres. Role Responsibilities
- Lead secure, compliant centre operations through effective staff supervision and capability development.
- Provide specialist security advice and incident response to support executive decision‑making.
- Detect and disrupt contraband through targeted and random search operations.
- Manage and respond to critical incidents and security breaches, delivering actionable assessments and reports.
- Ensure staff, animal welfare, and exhibit handling comply with legislative and CSNSW requirements. Essential Requirements
- Certificate III in Correctional Practice or appropriate and relevant custodial experience.
- Possess a valid NSW Driver’s Licence and be able to drive official vehicles.
- Completed and ability to maintain the Security Operations Group fitness test.
- Completed the Emergency Response Operators Course (EROC).
- Maintain a high level of commitment to the role requirements.
- Willingness to respond and manage serious incidents and work alongside other stakeholders and external law enforcement agencies.
- Work in partnership with the Immediate Action Teams statewide (IAT).
- Successfully complete any relevant training courses required to maintain proficiency within the Security Operations Group (Security Operations Group – Crisis Induction Training Course).
- Successfully completed or have the ability to complete all requirements of the CSNSW K9 Dog Handlers Course, meet and maintain the standards of an operational CSNSW K9 handler.
- Successfully complete and maintain the Security Operations Group fitness test standards annually. Essential Certifications
- Hold or be willing to obtain relevant base qualifications required to undertake the role, including Glock 17, 9mm qualification and relevant firearm platforms.
- Hold a Chemical Munitions Operations Certification (CMOC).
- Hold an Emergency Response Operators certification (EROC). Additional Requirements Pending Role Selection
- Meet satisfactory probity and National Security Clearances. The successful applicants will be required to be an Australian Citizen and obtain National Security Clearance to ‘Secret’ level within 6 months of appointment to the role.
- SCO K9 applicants will be required to have a residential yard or be prepared to relocate into a residential property that has a yard within a set time frame, if their application is successful. This will be reviewed by the State K9 Manager.
