Our client is a well-established Inner East Melbourne firm with a loyal, long-term client base. You’ll take ownership of your own portfolio, delivering high-quality accounting and tax outcomes. This role suits someone confident managing clients independently and overseeing end-to-end compliance. The Role You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of business and individual clients, acting as their key contact for day-to-day accounting and tax matters. You’ll also review work, support junior staff, and ensure everything is delivered accurately and on time. Key responsibilities
- Manage your own client portfolio end-to-end
- Act as the main point of contact for clients
- Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns & BAS/IAS
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax legislation
- Review junior accountant work and provide clear feedback
- Support clients with cash flow, budgeting & forecasting
- Spot issues early and provide practical, timely advice
- Assist with advisory work and value-add opportunities
- Help drive workflow and meet deadlines
- Contribute to improving team processes About You
- 7+ years’ experience in Australian public practice
- Confident managing a client portfolio independently
- Strong technical tax and accounting skills
- Comfortable reviewing work and guiding junior staff
- Strong communicator with a client-first mindset
- CA or CPA qualified (or near completion)
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Commerce or Finance
- Experience with SME clients (preferred)
