About the role We’re looking for a strategic and highly skilled communications professional to drive advocacy messaging, media engagement, and policy communications that influence government, industry, and the broader community. This is an exciting opportunity for a communications and policy professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about shaping public debate and industry outcomes. In this role, you will support the translation of the REIV policy positions into clear, compelling external communications. Draft media releases, government submissions, member communications, and advocacy materials that bring policy to life for a range of audiences. What you'll be doing
- Develop compelling media releases, opinion pieces, policy updates, and member communications that translate complex issues into transparent, engaging content.
- Lead proactive and reactive media engagement, including managing enquiries, preparing spokesperson materials, and identifying communications opportunities.
- Support REIV’s advocacy efforts by researching and drafting submissions, government briefs, and stakeholder correspondence.
- Work closely with senior leadership to deliver speeches, campaign messaging, and strategic communications aligned with REIV’s policy objectives.
- Coordinate integrated advocacy campaigns across media, digital, member, and government channels.
- Monitor legislative, regulatory, and media developments impacting the real estate sector and provide timely insights and communications support.
- Build strong relationships with members, government stakeholders, and industry partners to support REIV’s policy and advocacy priorities. What you'll bring to the role
- Demonstrated experience drafting external communications, including media releases, government submissions, or advocacy materials.
- Robust written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex policy or technical content into clear, engaging language for diverse audiences.
- Understanding of government processes, consultation mechanisms, and the role of industry associations in public policy.
- Ability to research and synthesise information quickly, producing well-structured documents under deadline pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with others. Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field i.e. political science, journalism, media etc.
- 3-4 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within a policy, government, industry association, or communications environment Desirable
- Experience in a membership or professional services organisation.
- Familiarity with digital social media channels as tools for policy advocacy, including the ability to adapt policy messaging for online audiences and monitor engagement with advocacy content.
- Knowledge of the Property Sector. What we offer
