Role Summary The Retail Manager (Bakery) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day retail operations of Dan’s Deli in Carlton, Melbourne and ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the bakery. The role involves supervising staff, coordinating customer service, monitoring bakery sales, managing stock levels and supplier orders, and ensuring bakery products are presented and maintained to the business’s quality standards. The Retail Manager (Bakery) plays an key role in the daily operation of the business by supporting staff, maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring customers receive a consistent and positive experience. Responsibilities Managing the daily retail operations of the bakery and ensuring smooth workflow throughout trading hours; Supervising staff and allocating duties according to operational requirements; Preparing and coordinating weekly rosters to ensure appropriate staffing levels; Review daily sales reports and report to the business owner on revenue, labour costs, margins and advice on pricing; Coordinate production schedules and delivery timetables for baked goods; Promote bakery products and recommend items to suit customer preferences; Advise management on sales strategies, product offerings, and marketing improvements; Assist in determining the appropriate product mix, including seasonal and festive items, as well as special promotional products; Ensuring bakery products are displayed attractively and maintained to presentation standards; Conduct stocktakes and manage inventory, including ordering supplies as needed; Placing supplier orders and coordinating deliveries according to business requirements; Checking deliveries received and ensuring product quality and quantity meet operational needs; Maintaining stock rotation and monitoring stock usage to minimise wastage; Monitor employees' performance and service level, and compliance with workplace policies; Providing staff training and maintaining consistency in retail standards. Ensure proper cash handling procedures and reconciliation of daily takings; Develop and implement strategies to minimise waste, particularly for perishable goods; Handling customer enquiries and supporting operational issues during service; Maintain workplace health and safety compliance. Qualifications To be considered for the role, you must have the following experience, knowledge and qualifications: a minimum of one year of relevant work experience; a minimum Cert IV; strong knowledge of management and administration; strong retail and management skills; understanding of regulatory hygiene practices and standards; confidence and experience to work both in a team and alone where required; excellent communication, leadership and management skills, both written and verbal; and strong commitment to leadership and guiding staff members.
