Early Foundation Childcare Craigieburn is a family-owned early learning centre built around calm environments, strong relationships, quality education, and genuine family partnerships. We care for children from 6 weeks to 6 years and believe every child deserves to feel protected, supported, valued, and confident to grow. Our centre is purpose-built, warm, welcoming, and community-focused. We are looking for the right 2IC to join our leadership team and help shape the next stage of our centre. This is an important role for us. We are not simply looking for someone to fill a position — we are looking for someone who can bring leadership, consistency, care, accountability, and strong early childhood knowledge to our team. About the Role As our 2IC, you will work closely with the management team to support the day-to-day running of the centre. You will help guide educators, support compliance, build strong relationships with families, maintain high standards across rooms, and contribute to a positive team culture. This role suits someone who is confident, organised, warm, and proactive — someone who can lead with kindness while still upholding expectations. You will be an important support to the Director and a trusted point of contact for educators and families. Key Responsibilities, Leadership & Team Support
- Support the Management Team and Centre Direcotr with daily centre operations.
- Act as responsible person when required.
- Assist with room coverage, rosters, breaks, ratios, and daily staffing needs.
- Guide, support, and mentor educators across the centre.
- Help maintain a positive, respectful, and professional team culture.
- Lead by example in communication, presentation, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Support new educators with induction, routines, expectations, and centre procedures. Compliance & Quality
- Help ensure the centre meets the National Quality Framework, National Regulations, and National Quality Standards.
- Support safe supervision, hygiene, child protection, incident reporting, medication, allergy, safe sleep, emergency, and food safety procedures.
- Assist with daily compliance checks and room expectations.
- Support documentation, observations, programming, and reflective practice.
- Help contribute to the centre’s continuous improvement and quality practices. Families & Communication
- Build warm, professional relationships with families.
- Support enrolments, orientations, settling-in periods, and parent enquiries.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with families about their child’s day, routines, wellbeing, and development.
- Help ensure families feel welcomed, reassured, and connected to the centre.
- Support the use of OWNA for family communication and centre updates. Children & Learning Environments
- Support educators to create calm, engaging, inclusive, and age-appropriate learning environments.
- Ensure children are treated with warmth, respect, and genuine care.
- Promote play-based learning, positive behaviour guidance, and strong educator-child relationships.
- Step into rooms when needed and remain actively connected to the children and daily program. What We’re Looking For The right person for this role will be:

- Someone who genuinely cares about building a strong centre culture. Essential Requirements
- Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or ACECQA-approved equivalent.
- Experience in an early childhood education and care setting.
- Previous leadership experience preferred, such as Room Leader, 2IC, Educational Leader, or senior educator.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training.
- Strong understanding of EYLF, NQF, NQS, and early childhood regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using OWNA or similar childcare management software is highly regarded. What We Offer
