General Maintenance / Handy Person (Cranbourne)

The Settlement Hotel is currently looking for a reliable **Handyman** to undertake upkeep and repair tasks at the interior or exterior of the hotel premises. We will rely on you to keep our facilities in perfect condition by doing various odd jobs.

Deft hands and technical knowledge are important parts of a handyman’s arsenal. You must be well-organized with robust general repair skills. A keen eye for detail and physical stamina are valued greatly in this job. The ability to work on weekends is a must, local resident highly regarded.

You will be responsible for undertaking general repairs and maintenance. This includes:

- Perform day-to-day general maintenance duties within the hotel rooms and public areas
- Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks
- Maintain all tools, equipment, and working areas in proper condition
- Ensuring our high-quality standards are maintained
- Some plastering may be required
- Changing of light globes and fixtures.
- Paint and fill gaps or crevices (on walls, etc)
- Repair equipment or appliances
- Assist tradespeople with electrical, plumbing repairs
- Identify and report the need for major repairs
- Perform routine checks of the hotel premises

To be successful, you will need to possess:

- A stable employment history;
- An ability to work in occupied areas with an awareness of Safety & respect for others
- Proven experience as handyman/building trade
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, painting
- Trade qualifications beneficial (Electrician/Mechanic/Plumber/Engineer/Carpentry/Painting)
- Forklift licence
- An eye for detail
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
- Positive attitude
- Ability to work without close supervision and within established timeframes
- Robust work ethic
- Well-organized and apt in problem-solving
- Requests that all applicants consider that weekend work will be a requirement for this position

Pay: From $24.95 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 25 per week

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Rotating roster
