Team Leader — Field Operations (Cranbourne West)

PSM Spraybooth Specialists has been servicing commercial spraybooths across Melbourne for over 21 years. We're a small, tight-knit field team with high standards — and we're looking for the right person to lead it. This is a hands-on role. You'll be on the tools with your crew every day. You'll set the pace, hold the standard, and make sure every person on your team knows what's expected — and delivers it. We'll train you on our technical systems and procedures. What we can't train is the person you already are. If you lead from the front, hold people accountable without flinching, read a room without being told what's in it, and take genuine pride in hard work done well — this role was written for you. If you manage from a distance, don't want to get your hands dirty and avoid the hard conversations, it wasn't. What the job actually looks like
- Physical, demanding work every single day — harder than most people expect, and exactly what the right person thrives on
- Start and finish times vary daily — this is field service, not shift work
- Hours are averaged over a rolling 38-hour week — fair, but not predictable
- Occasional overnight work, a couple of times a year — accommodation and meals are covered
- If your personal situation can't flex around variable hours or the odd night away, this role won't work for you — and that's okay, but it's important to know upfront What you'll do
- Work alongside the crew on site — lead by doing, not by watching
- Set and hold the standard on every job: safety, quality, documentation
- Have the hard conversations when people don't meet the standard — and follow through
- Notice when someone on your crew is off — before they say a word — and handle it
- Be the person the team confides in and turns to when things go sideways
- Run pre-start and completion inspections on every site
- Coach team members in the field and recommend progression when it's earned
- Ensure all job records, photos, and notes are complete before leaving site What we're looking for
- A background in trades, field service, or industrial maintenance — you don't need to know spraybooths, we'll teach you our way
- Proven experience leading a crew, with a real track record of holding people accountable
- Mechanical aptitude and diagnostic instinct — you can work through a problem logically and make a sound call
- High emotional intelligence — you read people well, you're easy to work with, you bring the right energy without losing your edge
- Someone who enjoys the banter but takes the job seriously — the kind of person the team works hard for
- A procedural mindset — you follow the system and expect everyone else to do the same
- Physically built for demanding work and genuinely energised by it
- Current driver's licence
