RF Engineer – Transit Deliver RF designs for critical metro and rail projects, supporting 4G, 5G and mission‑critical communications networks. Key Responsibilities
- Develop RF designs for metro tunnel and station environments, including antenna systems, leaky feeder cables and passive networks
- Produce designs for Public Mobile Networks (4G/5G), Public Safety (P25) and Mission‑Critical 5G networks
- Conduct RF planning and analysis including site surveys, propagation modelling, link budgets and capacity planning
- Review and approve contractor RF designs, coverage reports and iBwave files
- Support EMC analysis and RF interference mitigation activities
- Contribute RAN configuration inputs in collaboration with the 5G Network Engineering team
- Prepare RF design documentation, reports, test plans and technical deliverables
- Support RF acceptance testing, commissioning and on‑site integration activities
- Participate in technical reviews, interface meetings and design assurance forums
- Ensure designs comply with Australian standards, regulatory requirements and project specifications Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in RF engineering, DAS design or LTE/5G RAN deployment
- Advanced knowledge of RF fundamentals and link budget calculations
- Strong experience with in‑building RF design tools such as iBwave
- Experience designing RF systems for tunnels, stations or underground environments
- Exposure to outdoor RF design tools such as Atoll or Planet
- RF testing experience using TEMS, NEMO, CW, PIM, fibre and RF test equipment
- Working knowledge of 5G RAN architecture and radio unit interfaces
