Senior Geotechnical Engineer North Sydney

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will take a leadership role in delivering geotechnical services from investigation through to interpretation, design, and construction support. You will manage projects, provide technical oversight, and contribute to strategic decision-making while ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

DUTIES. Lead and oversee geotechnical investigations, including planning, execution, and interpretation of site data Deliver Specialist Engineering Assessments through development and review of 2D and 3D FEM's. Including (but not limited to) the modelling and analysis of foundations, retaining structures, ground improvement and construction loading interactions with existing Sydney Water assets including pipes of all types, tunnels, shafts, and heritage structures. Conduct slope risk assessments using both AGS and TfNSW guidelines Write and review technical reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and quality Act as a key client interface, presenting findings and providing trusted technical advice Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geotechnical inputs into broader project outcomes Provide senior-level construction support, including site inspections and technical guidance Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering technical development within the team Contribute to business development, proposals, and strategic growth initiatives

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE. Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering Minimum 5 years' experience in geotechnical engineering within Australia (experience in Sydney is preferred) Proficiency with industry FEM software such as RS2, RS3, Slide, or similar An understanding of and experience in Sydney Water's Specialist Engineering Assessment Procedures, would be an advantage, but not essential. TfNSW Accredited slope risk assessor would be an advantage, but not essential Proven ability to lead projects and manage client relationships Advanced knowledge of geotechnical design principles, soil mechanics, and foundation engineering Robust understanding of Australian Standards and relevant codes Excellent communication and report-writing skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes in a quick-paced workplace Apply on Kit Job: kitjobau.com/job/3rd2ii
