POSITION SUMMARY As a Software Engineer Intern at Soprano Design, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands‑on experience in software testing and quality assurance, with a focus on automating web applications, conducting automated API testing, performing non‑functional testing, and working with AWS EC2 instance test environments. This internship is a rare opportunity for students pursuing a software engineering course to apply their skills in a real‑world setting in a global corporate environment. You will work closely with our experienced QA team, learning the ins and outs of quality assurance processes and contributing to the delivery of high‑quality software products. Department: Development Location: North Sydney, Australia Type: Part‑Time 3 days a week, 12‑Month Fixed Term Contract KEY RESPONSIBILITIES This includes but is not limited to:
- Collaborate with the development team to understand project requirements and specifications.
- Create and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for web applications using Selenium with Java.
- Develop and maintain automated test suites for web applications.
- Perform automated API testing using tools like readyAPI and Postman.
- Conduct non‑functional testing, including Security, Performance, and Accessibility testing.
- Document and report defects and issues to the development team using our issue tracking system.
- Participate in the design and maintenance of automated test scripts.
- Assist in test data preparation and test environment setup.
- Apply your understanding of SDLC to ensure that quality assurance activities align with the development process.
- Be keen and willing to improve the quality posture of the software team through continuous learning and suggesting best practices.
- Manage and maintain test execution via Jenkins CI/CD pipeline.
- Understand DevOps concepts in building and deploying the latest build on the test environment.
- Take responsibility for maintaining test environments—AWS EC2 instances.
- Monitor test reports executed as part of the overnight pipeline.
- Maintain and fix issues in the existing automation regression test suite.
- Be responsible for increasing test automation coverage for the existing application by enhancing the existing automation framework. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE TO SUCCEED
- Currently pursuing a degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field and is in their Penultimate year.
- Strong interest in software quality assurance, automation, non‑functional testing, DevOps concepts, and regression testing.
- Basic knowledge of software development concepts and programming languages.
- Familiarity with web application automation using Selenium with Java.
- Experience with API testing tools like readyAPI and Postman.
- Understanding of Security, Performance, and Accessibility testing.
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow testing procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
