Civil Engineer (Darra)

Civil Engineer (Darra)
Description
Civil Engineer / Design Engineer — Darra, Brisbane You're a positive design engineer stuck doing a thin slice of someone else's job. The drainage on a model you didn't build. One corner of a subdivision somebody more senior scoped, sized and signed off long before it reached you. You do the work, it disappears up the chain, and you never really own anything end to end. This is the opposite of that. It's a broad civil role
- resi subdivision, sitting between the design team and the directors, where you take a job and run it. Front to back. And the work itself is the good kind: brownfield infill, the one-into-twenties, the sites with real constraints you have to think your way around. Not production-line greenfield master planning on someone else's template. It's also a calm place to do it. Nobody's pulled unpaid overtime in years
- and on the rare occasion someone does, it's paid. The firm's been around long enough that the average tenure is 13 years, there's $25m across the group and its own development pipeline. So while you've watched consultancies fold around you, this isn't one of them. You'd report to a lead engineer who's genuinely respected and, more to the point, still happy to teach. If you're working toward RPEQ, that's supported. And worth a mention: engineering here has a 50/50 male/female split, which you don't see often. Now the rewards, and these are real, not "competitive." A fully maintained dual-cab ute
- fuel, tolls, all of it. Around $25k of value, or take it as salary. With M1 tolls at roughly $100 a week, that's not a rounding error. Free on-site parking too (Darra now, same again if the office moves to Indooroopilly). And genuine flexibility once you've shown you deliver
- part-time, school-run hours, a day or two from home. They've actually lived this, not just put it in a job ad. These directors think commercially. So when you win work, it gets noticed, and they'll have the conversation about what that's worth, rather than taking the win and saying nothing. A couple of honest filters, because this won't suit everyone. They run 12d. Not "mostly," not "we're flexible"
- 12d, full stop. If you're wedded to something else, this isn't your role. And you have to actually want small-firm life
- the breadth, the ownership, the lack of a big machine behind you. If you're running from a big firm rather than toward this, you'll feel it inside a month. If that lands, send whatever you've got
- even if your CV's three years out of date, that's fine, just send what you have. No rush at this end. They'd rather wait for the right person than grab the first one, so this is a conversation, not a sprint. Apply on Kit Job: kitjobau.com/job/3pqqc9
