Team Leader - Experienced Gardener (Seventeen Mile Rocks)

**SUPERVISOR/MANAGER**:You will report directly to the Office Manager and Business Owner.

**POSITION OVERVIEW**: The Gardening Team Leader is flexible and enjoys working both on your own and as part of a team. You are responsible and are an independent worker with the ability to follow all instructions as well as act on your own initiative and take pride in everything you do. **MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Treat Clients, suppliers and any other fellow employees with professional consideration at all times. Handle clients with the utmost respect.
- Be familiar with what the daily schedule tasks/jobs are and ensure the vehicles are stocked with adequate provisions before leaving the workshop for the day.
- Coordinate and carry out daily work schedules as required to the highest skilled standard, meeting and/or exceeding the client’s expectations of yard service maintenance.
- Supervise other team members with a hands on approach as well as being willing & capable assisting as required at all times
- Responsible for logging and recording the services rendered and times taken as directed on ServiceM8
- General gardening duties, including hedging, edging, whipper-snipping, weeding, spraying, fertilising and any other relevant duties as required and directed by work schedules.
- A general understanding of the tools and machinery used in the course of the business and the ability to identify the pre safety checks and maintenance required before use.
- Ability to use the multi-tool for hedging, pruning, and trimming, in addition to any other gardening tools required on site.
- Ability to unload, move and spread large quantities of mulch, gravel or soil around sites effectively.
- Ability to identify which sprays and fertilisers are required for each applicable task and the safe work practices used during spraying of chemicals on weeds and spraying and or spreading of fertilizer on lawns
- Maintain a safe work environment abiding by workplace health and safety policies and procedures, and adhering to all site requirements as needed.
- All other tasks as directed.
- Ensure the job sheets have been completed entirely including all the information from each individual job performed including tasks, times, additional requests for next. Review with the office before days end.
- At the end of the day clean out the tools and other provisions and put them back where they belong for the next day. Check and maintain daily stock levels in the work vehicles and the work sheds.
- Return batteries to the charger and empty work bag in preparation for the next day’s activities.

**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**: **Qualifications**:

- Current Manual Driver’s License is ESSENTIAL.
- Other relevant specialist courses or qualifications related to the industry will be highly regarded.

**Experience**:

- You possess proven horticultural maintenance qualifications and / or experience of residential and industrial garden maintenance.
- Minimum one (5) yearsexperience in all general gardening tasks including hedging, pruning, mowing, edging, weed control, etc.
- Experience in estimating new jobs would be considered an advantage.

**Skills**:

- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, team members, and administration as needed.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Organized and able to meet deadlines and keep on scheduled timelines.
- Ability to identify tasks independently once advised of the job and to function as a positive team member.
- Estimating time for new and ongoing work, quantities of green waste, and tools and equipment required to complete a job.
