to the OCPE website. Primary objective Provide leadership and strategic direction to drive the delivery of high quality, community focused NT wide library and archives
services to meet community needs, comply with relevant legislative frameworks and achieve government policy outcomes. Context statement Library and Archives NT (LANT) is the NT’s ‘state’ library and archives. It comprehensively collects the documentary heritage of
the NT in all its forms, published and unpublished, print and digital, including the NT Government’s archives, as well as providing
services to operate and develop the NT’s public library network. LANT operates from three physical locations; two in Darwin, and
one in Alice Springs. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Provide high level strategic direction and operational leadership to facilitate the delivery of community focussed, quality library and archives services to a culturally and linguistically diverse and geographically dispersed population. 2. Provide concise, up-to-date information, high level subject matter expertise, advice and recommendations concerning library and archives services to the CEO, senior executives and Minister as required. 3. Ensure that the documentary heritage of the NT is collected, preserved and made accessible to professional standards. 4. Provide robust, effective day to day leadership and management to a multidisciplinary team of staff, building a culture of ethical conduct, innovation, professional growth and continuous improvement. 5. Ensure effective and accountable management of LANT operations, including financial, risk and contract management, and the development and implementation of appropriate reporting and program evaluation mechanisms. Selection criteria Essential 1. Extensive knowledge of the environment in which collecting institutions and public libraries operate, library and archives professional practice, and contemporary trends in library and archives service development. 2. Extensive leadership experience in a library or archives environment with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others to deliver effective programs and services to all levels of the community. 3. Extensive experience in shaping strategic direction and implementing complex strategies by building buy-in and support from key internal and external stakeholders, and driving action through a culture of collaboration, innovation and accountability. 4. Demonstrated working knowledge of organisational and business management practices including policy development, procurement, contract and budget management, change management and program evaluation. 5. Proven high level communication and interpersonal skills in a culturally diverse environment, including demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with government agencies and relevant professional and community organisations, and experience in
preparing and presenting high level written and verbal briefings and reports on complex issues. 6. Strong outcome orientation and demonstrated ability to maintain high level personal performance, be flexible, respond
positively and manage pressure in a rapidly changing environment. 7. The capacity to successfully interpret and manage the social, political and organisational environment to achieve effective
outcomes. Desirable 1. Degree qualification in librarianship or archives management, or other qualification giving admission to the Australian Library and Information Association or the Australian Society of Archivists. 2. Experience delivering services to remote and regional communities.
