information initiatives that enhance understanding of the Legislative Assembly’s work and strengthen engagement

between the Parliament and the Northern Territory community. Context statement The Department of the Legislative Assembly provides the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly, its Members

and Committees with quality and timely support for the operation of the Parliament, Parliamentary Committees, the

Parliament House precinct, and Electorate Offices (and staff). The People, Performance and Culture Unit provides support and advice to MLAs, electorate office employees, and

DLA managers and staff across human resources, work health and safety, corporate communications, and related

administrative functions that support the effective operation of electorate offices and DLA business units. Key responsibilities 1. Deliver strategic communications advice and lead the development, implementation and evaluation of internal and external communication projects and strategies for the DLA. 2. Develop and execute a social media strategy, oversee platform management, including content planning and creation, and collaborate closely with work units to ensure cohesive messaging. 3. Provide informed guidance on campaign planning and delivery to raise community awareness of the Assembly’s work and strengthen engagement between the Assembly and the public. 4. Manage the organisation’s website and social media channels to ensure accurate, timely and accessible information. 5. Provide advice and briefing notes to the Clerk on media enquiries. 6. Manage the department’s corporate branding and suite of corporate stationery and templates. Selection criteria Essential

1. Strong understanding of contemporary principles, practices and trends across communications, marketing, public relations, social media and related fields. 2. Robust cultural capability and demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities, including adapting messaging to be culturally appropriate, accessible, and inclusive. 3. Extensive experience delivering complex, multi‑channel communications projects, including campaigns, launches, publications and exhibitions. 4. Skilled in digital communications and social media, with experience developing content plans and implementing best‑practice approaches. 5. Experienced in designing, executing and assessing digital and social media campaigns. 6. Well‑developed communication and organisational abilities, supporting effective teamwork, management of competing deadlines and performance under pressure. 7. Proven capability in providing strategic communication advice, as well as high‑quality writing, editing and

proofing services. 8. Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in environments requiring sensitivity, discretion, impartiality,

integrity and strict confidentiality. Desirable 1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as communications or marketing. 2. Knowledge of parliamentary systems, including the operation of parliament and Inter-Parliamentary protocols. Requirements for selection and undertaking the role
