Assistant Accountant Full Time – 40 hours per week
- Darwin, NT Hybrid (Client Sites and Work from Home) $65K

You can learn more about us at The Role We're looking for an experienced and self-motivated Assistant Accountant to join the Elite Books team. Reporting to our Client Manager, you'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations across a portfolio of clients, working from home and attending client sites across Darwin as required. This is a long-term role for someone who wants to grow with a business that's going places. If you're organised, client-focused, and comfortable managing your own time across both remote and in-field environments, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and general ledger entries across multiple client files
- Process client payments accurately and on time
- Assist with month-end processing including accruals, reconciliations and financial registers
- Assist with monthly financial reporting, including reviewing results, identifying variances, and supporting client discussions
- Maintain accurate and well-structured client files to support efficient review processes
- Assist with payroll processing
- Maintain clear and timely communication with clients and internal team members
- Ad hoc duties as required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role
- Strong working knowledge of Xero — Xero certification highly regarded
- Proficient across Microsoft 365
- Experience managing multiple client files simultaneously in a practice environment
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines without close supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
- Experience in the building and construction industry is a significant advantage To Be Successful You Will Have
- Bachelor's degree majoring in Accounting or Finance (preferred) or equivalent practical experience
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities across a client portfolio
- Able to prioritise and manage workload without constant direction in a remote environment
- Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, based in Australia
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Current National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain) Why Elite Books?
