Primary objective Provide leadership and expert advice to strategically procure, catalogue, curate, manage and promote access to a diverse collection of geoscientific reports and datasets, maps and academic publications to build knowledge of the geology and resource potential of the Northern Territory. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Lead and manage a small team and collaborate with other Information Services team members in managing a diverse range of geoscientific collections and materials
- Oversee and promote access to physical and digital library collections, ensuring effective service delivery through online platforms and research databases
- Support senior leadership in enhancing library systems through the implementation of contemporary digital solutions, improving accessibility and discoverability of information resources
- Lead and manage strategic and operational projects, including procurement and contract management, ensuring delivery against agreed milestones and objectives
- Monitor industry trends and best practices to inform continuous improvement, including the adoption of emerging technologies, standards, and formats
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery
- Prepare high-level reports and documentation to support corporate and strategic decision-making Selection criteria Essential 1. Tertiary qualification in library and information science with eligibility for Associate Membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
- Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills, preferably with a scientific background.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current issues and trends in collection development technologies and practices.
- Proven leadership and management experience, including the ability to set clear performance standards, manage and develop teams to achieve operational and organisational objectives 1. Proven experience of library management systems, including the capacity to leverage potential innovative technological solutions to problem solve and introduce improved business processes. 1. Experience and understanding of client needs in relation to accessing information and provision of effective services and online systems
- Demonstrated ability and knowledge of project management practices and principles and in change management.
