Mainframe Technical Lead (Darwin)

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Technical Lead to support the development, maintenance, and modernisation of enterprise mainframe applications within a large-scale technology environment. The role will provide technical leadership across complex application landscapes, supporting system enhancement, integration, and delivery while mentoring development teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This is a 12-month full-time contract role based on-site in Darwin, NT. What You’ll Do
- Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise mainframe applications and supporting systems
- Provide technical leadership across complex application environments and system integrations
- Plan, coordinate, test, and deliver system releases across development, test, and production environments
- Provide Level 3 technical support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for business-critical applications
- Support mainframe modernisation initiatives involving legacy and web-based technologies
- Develop and maintain technical, operational, and procedural documentation
- Provide technical advice, risk identification, and escalation support to stakeholders and management
- Mentor and guide development teams, supporting capability uplift and best practice delivery
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable and customer-focused ICT solutions What You’ll Bring
- Extensive experience across the full application development lifecycle within enterprise mainframe environments
- Strong expertise in mainframe technologies including COBOL, CICS, TSO, QMF, ISPF, JCL, DB2, SQL, EGL, and BIRT
- Experience with mainframe modernisation tools and practices, including Rocket LegaSuite products
- Knowledge of web development technologies including XML, HTML, JavaScript, .NET, and Sitecore
- Proven experience delivering complex application releases and managing deployments across multiple environments
- Robust analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities within large-scale application environments
- Experience developing and maintaining enterprise application codebases and technical documentation
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear technical guidance and recommendations
