merit process, go to the OCPE website. Primary objective To provide advice and support across the NTG to ensure that agencies are meeting their responsibilities as required by the
Information Act pt.9, and to provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of LANT’s Government archives
and reference services. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Provide expert strategic advice on the management of, access to and preservation of NT Government archival collections, including the development of standards, policies and procedures and records disposal schedules. 2. Ensure the effective delivery of archives services to public sector organisations, including appraisal of government records; transfer of records; access agreements; storage and preservation of government archives; the development of
archives standards; and ensuring that government archives are appropriately documented, discoverable and accessible. 3. Lead and manage the government archives and reference services teams, supporting staff learning and development and
building a team culture which is collaborative, client focused and committed to service improvement. 4. Manage budgets for government archives and ensure that effective reporting and evaluation processes are in place. 5. Develop strong relationships and strategic partnerships with public sector organisation stakeholders to ensure that services provided meet NTG requirements, and that the value of archival records and the requirements of the Information
Act are disseminated broadly. 6. Support the strategic management of Libraries and Archives NT. 7. Represent Library and Archives NT as required in a range of Territory and national forums, working groups and organisations including the Council of Australasian Archives and Records Authorities (CAARA). 8. Supervise operational management of the LANT Millner facility including collection storage and preservation, pest management and facilities repair and maintenance. Selection criteria Essential 1. Appropriate qualifications and experience enabling eligibility for membership of the Australian Society of Archivists (ASA) as an Accredited Skilled. 2. Extensive professional experience in managing archives in a government (state/territory/local) environment. 3. Extensive knowledge of contemporary archival management practices including digital archives, archival systems, and trends in service delivery. 4. Demonstrated capacity to think strategically, with a proven ability to develop effective internal and external relationships. 5. Demonstrated ability to lead, empower and inspire professional teams to achieve objectives, and manage change. 6. High-level oral and written communication skills. 7. Demonstrated project management skills, with the capacity to see projects through to completion, on time and within budget. 8. An ability to interact effectively with people from a diverse range of cultures and lifestyles. 9. A sound knowledge of Northern Territory and Australian history. Desirable 1.
