Job Description: Chef de Partie (Casual) Zesty Lemon Cafe Location: 6 Bayview Terrace, Deception Bay, QLD 4508 About Us Zesty Lemon Cafe is a vibrant, beachside gem in Deception Bay, just steps from the water with stunning bay views. We're known for our relaxed coastal vibe, locally roasted coffee, homemade cakes and slices, and a delicious menu of modern and classic breakfast and lunch dishes — think caramelised banana pancakes, breakfast bruschetta, smoked salmon rosti, signature burgers, seafood, and more. Our friendly team delivers quick service and quality food in a dog-friendly, community-focused environment open 7 days a week.We're looking for a passionate Chef de Partie to join us on a casual basis to help maintain our high standards during busy periods, weekdays and weekends.. Position Overview
- Role: Chef de Partie
- Employment Type: Casual
- Hours: Flexible casual hours (primarily weekend and weekday shifts; morning/breakfast and lunch service)
- Rate: Competitive casual hourly rate + penalty rates (in line with Restaurant Industry Award) + superannuation Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and plate high-quality dishes across breakfast, lunch, and specials according to menu specifications and recipes
- Work specific sections/stations as directed (e.g., grill, pantry, fry, eggs, or dessert support)
- Maintain consistency in food presentation, portion control, taste, and quality
- Assist with stock rotation, and food prep for service
- Follow strict food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
- Keep your workstation clean, organised, and compliant with health regulations at all times
- Work efficiently in a small, rapid-paced kitchen team during service rushes
- Support the the team with daily tasks, menu execution, and any special events.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative kitchen culture Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Demi Chef, or experienced Line/Commis Chef in a busy café, breakfast/lunch restaurant, or similar high-volume environment
- Strong knowledge of breakfast and lunch cooking techniques (eggs, grilling, frying, salads, burgers, seafood basics)
- Passion for fresh, quality ingredients and consistent presentation
- Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene practices (current Food Safety Supervisor certificate preferred)
- Ability to work quickly and calmly under pressure in a small team
- Reliable, punctual, and positive attitude with good communication skills
