- Career progression with extensive onsite training About the Role: We are seeking a Maintenance Officer to join our team on a Part Time basis. You will be based at our Avalon House, located at 14 John St Avalon Beach NSW 2107. Shift Times: 7:00am
- 3:00pm (Monday to Thursday) Avalon House is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Officer to join our team in a warm, resident-focused aged care environment. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining safe and well-presented facilities, and understands the importance of a well-maintained environment in supporting the quality of life of our residents. Our Ideal candidate:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience completing maintenance for commercial businesses preferred
- Police Check (National Police Certificate) (Essential)
- Knowledge of Work, Health and Safety Requirements
- Possess good communication and organisational skills.
- Be able to work proactively to identify maintenance problems, including regularly inspecting and assessing repair work; and
- Have the ability to recognise, escalate and resolve maintenance matters which require further assistance. Essential Requirements:
- Trade certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Current Driver’s License Class C; and
- A SafeWork NSW White Card (preferred)

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain common grounds and shared spaces to a high standard of presentation
- Perform general garden maintenance, including mulching, planting, weed control (manual and spraying), and lawn care
- Operate garden and maintenance equipment, including ride-on mowers, power tools, and high-pressure cleaning equipment
- Carry out general building maintenance such as painting, lighting replacement, gutter cleaning, basic plumbing, tiling, and minor repairs
- Follow preventative maintenance programs to ensure timely upkeep of buildings and outdoor areas
- Identify, report, and address hazards in line with work health and safety procedures
- Obtain quotes for repairs or maintenance works as directed by the House Manager
- Provide friendly, professional service to residents, visitors, contractors, and staff
- Build positive relationships with residents through a respectful, approachable, and supportive manner
