We provide a unique two-to-three-year program for young people in Years 10 to 12 designed to progressively develop employability skills and achieve individualized learning goals while meeting the requirements of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) and the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). Our aim is to seamlessly blend senior education and vocational training to engage young people in purposeful learning experiences that are relevant to the real world of industry. About the role The Student Engagement Officer provides a welcoming first point of contact for young people, families, and visitors to our Sunshine Coast School, providing high-quality student services, reception, and administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations, strong community engagement, and the successful delivery of The Industry School’s programs. Key functions will include: Student Engagement
- Developing authentic relationships with young people, their families/carers, and community members to champion the delivery of The Industry School’s vision and culture.
- Maintaining young people records in the student management system and academic reporting.
- Providing consistent, confidential, and timely handling of sensitive student matters.
- Assisting with Rookies induction, handbooks, and onboarding processes.
- Monitoring and reporting student absences, leave requests, first aid and incident reporting.
- Supporting the successful delivery of industry immersion activities, excursions, tours and events. Data, Reporting & Communication
- Maintaining valid, accurate and complete data in the QCAA and student management systems.
- Coordinating with the school team to ensure timely submission of assessment and reporting data.
- Generating reports and providing data insights to track progress toward QCE eligibility.
- Ensuring compliance with QCAA policies, deadlines, and data integrity requirements.
- Communicating with students and families regarding certifications and records management.
- Assisting in training staff in the use of QCAA and student management systems, and processes.
- Managing incoming calls, emails, and visitors, to provide exceptional customer experiences. Administration
- General administrative tasks eg receipting payments, managing mail, coordinating couriers and deliveries.
- Supporting facilities bookings, rooms and fleet vehicles.
- Providing administrative support to the school team and the business services team back up during peak periods.
- Undertaking basic finance and ordering tasks e.g., purchase orders, stationery and consumable supplies.
- Assisting with event coordination e.g., parent information nights, graduations and industry showcases.
- Supporting Work Health and Safety (WHS) activities such as lockdowns, evacuations, and drug testing.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of systems and internal processes. The flexibility to provide occasional support outside normal hours to assist with and attend events, will be required from time to time. - A discrete, and professional manner, and ability to always maintain confidentiality.
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
- First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain.
- Right to work in Australia.
- Ability to demonstrate The Industry School values.
- Proficiency in administrative or school management systems (e.g. TASS).
- Experience in the education or training sector.
