About the Role: MSS Security is seeking a casual Security Officer to join our team at the Devonport and Burnie Magistrates Court. This high-profile site plays a pivotal role in the justice system. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of court staff, visitors, and the public. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintain a secure environment within the Magistrates Court.
- Screen individuals entering the court building and ensure all security protocols are followed.
- Monitor and manage courtroom security during hearings.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents involving disruptive or aggressive behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with court staff and law enforcement to manage high-risk situations. Ideal candidates will have:
- Previous experience in security or a related field (highly desirable).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to de-escalate tense situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with the public and clients.
- A readiness, confidence and assertiveness to manage challenging situations.
- A strong work ethic and commitment to high-quality service. ​ Requirements:
- Full Australian working rights.
- Valid Tasmanian Security licence.
- Certificate II (or higher) in Security Operations.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificates (or willing to obtain).
- Working With Vulnerable People (or willing to obtain).
- Willing to undergo and pass a National Criminal History check. Master Licence Number: 5784
