Assistant Project Officer (Temporary Full‑time, 35 hours/week, until 30 June 2027) Location: Dubbo (hybrid working supported). Salary: $99,938 – $110,271 per annum + superannuation, based on experience. About the role National Parks and Wildlife Service seeks an Assistant Project Officer to support projects that protect and enhance the natural environment, native flora and fauna, and Aboriginal heritage.
- Provide hands‑on support across research, analysis, reporting and coordination.
- Track progress against project plans, maintain compliant documentation, and help deliver projects on time, on budget and to a high standard.
- Gather insights and contribute to project briefs.
- Communicate with stakeholders, provide progress updates, and resolve implementation challenges.
- Coordinate meetings and prepare materials that keep projects moving.
- Assist with site inspections, collect and record field data.
- Develop scopes of work and contribute to environmental assessments (REFs and ACHAs).
- Support procurement processes, contract administration, stakeholder engagement and quality assurance activities.
- Participate in project close‑out and evaluation tasks. About You You are organised, proactive, reliable, and detail‑oriented. You can adapt and get things done in a dynamic setting and are motivated to make a meaningful difference. Requirements
- Experience in project management or a related field (preferred).
- Knowledge of environmental assessment processes and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessments (preferred).
- Strong organisational, communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
