About The Role Rabobank Australia & New Zealand is seeking a Data Ecologist to strengthen our sustainability capability and support our clients’ transition to a net‑zero and nature‑positive future. This data‑focused role is responsible for designing, managing and evolving the data ecosystem that underpins sustainability insights, reporting and decision‑making. You will lead the development of scalable, high‑quality data solutions that capture, integrate and analyse climate and nature‑related data across multiple sources and embed these into core banking systems. Key Accountabilities
- Lead the design and delivery of data‑driven solutions supporting sustainability reporting, analytics and decision‑making
- Build and manage data pipelines, models and datasets for climate and nature‑related metrics
- Develop scalable approaches to sourcing, structuring and integrating sustainability data into enterprise systems
- Work closely with the Data Systems & Governance Lead to ensure strong data governance, quality, lineage and controls
- Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for business and client engagement
- Support portfolio analysis, reporting and performance tracking across sustainability KPIs
- Ensure alignment of sustainability data with enterprise data models and reporting frameworks
- Drive continuous improvement across data quality, standardisation, transparency and usability
- Support capability uplift across the business in data literacy and sustainability metrics
- Ensure data is managed in line with security, audit and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate across teams to embed sustainable data practices into core processes About You You are a data‑driven problem solver with strong analytical and governance expertise, and an interest in sustainability outcomes. You are comfortable working across complex data environments and translating technical outputs into meaningful business insights. You bring a pragmatic, structured approach to building high‑quality data assets and are motivated by using data to influence real‑world outcomes. Qualifications Essential
- Degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, Finance, Business, or a related field Desirable
- Postgraduate qualifications in data, analytics, or sustainability Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in data science, analytics, or data management roles
- Proven experience in data modelling, data pipelines, and systems integration
- Experience implementing data governance frameworks and controls
- Strong track record delivering data‑driven insights and solutions at scale
- Exposure to sustainability, climate or ESG data (preferred but not essential)
- Experience working across cross‑functional teams in complex environments Knowledge & Skills
- Solid data analytics and problem‑solving capability (e.g. SQL, Python, or similar)
- Experience with data architecture, integration and data lifecycle management
- Solid understanding of data governance, quality, lineage and controls
- Ability to translate complex data into clear business insights and narratives
- Understanding of sustainability, climate or ESG reporting frameworks (advantageous)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Project delivery and prioritisation capability
