Financial Controller - Pe Backed Ai/Technology (Sydney) …, New South Wales

Allura Partners are delighted to be exclusively partnering with a PE backed Tech business on a search for a Financial Controller. This is a hands‑on role for someone who thrives on building and improving. You'll modernise reporting frameworks, implement best‑in‑class controls and embed the financial rigour that PE investors demand. Start/Scale‑Up experience will be preferred* The Role
- Oversee the full month‑end and year‑end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with relevant accounting standards (AASB/IFRS)
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts, board packs and variance analysis to senior leadership, providing explicit commentary on business performance
- Assist the annual budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads to build bottom‑up models and track performance against targets
- Manage cash flow, treasury functions and working capital to ensure adequate liquidity and optimal use of funds across the business
- Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency, data integrity & compliance
- Partner with operational and commercial teams to deliver insightful analysis, support decision‑making and identify opportunities to improve margins and profitability
- Oversee statutory and tax compliance obligations including BAS, FBT, income tax provisions and coordination of the external audit process
- Lead, mentor and develop a small finance team, fostering a culture of accountability Requirements
- Ideally Big 4 or Mid‑Tier trained
- Experience of working in a start/scale‑up
- Advanced Excel
- Strong command of financial reporting under AASB/IFRS
- Experience with month‑end close, consolidations and management reporting
- A hands‑on mentality
