Job Summary The DevOps Engineer is a critical contributor to project delivery, ensuring that infrastructure and deployment pipelines are automated, secure, and compliant. This role focuses on enabling development teams to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently by providing governance, oversight, and technical guidance. Working within cross-functional project teams, the DevOps Engineer ensures that CI/CD processes and cloud environments meet security and safety requirements and deliver measurable outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery Enablement: Design and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines that support the rapid release of features and bug fixes, ensuring project milestones are met on schedule.
- Continuously improve deployment workflows to minimise downtime and enhance the overall efficiency of project delivery.
- Infrastructure as Code: Implement Azure resources using Bicep templates to ensure infrastructure consistency across development, testing, and production environments.
- Regularly update and optimise Bicep templates, aligning with best practices to support scalable and reliable deployments.
- Containerisation: Manage and maintain Docker-based environments to streamline the application build, test, and release processes.
- Optimise container orchestration strategies for scalability and resilience across cloud and on-premises platforms.
- Governance & Compliance: Integrate automated security and compliance scans into CI/CD pipelines to ensure compliance with public sector requirements.
- Develop and enforce standardised pipeline configurations that meet regulatory and organisational governance standards.
- Outcome Monitoring: Establish robust observability tools and dashboards to monitor deployment outcomes and service level agreement (SLA) compliance.
- Provide regular reports and insights to stakeholders, identifying trends and areas for process improvement.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers and architects to proactively identify and resolve technical challenges, keeping projects on track.
- Facilitate continuous feedback loops between teams to enhance solution quality and accelerate delivery timelines. Required Skills & Experience
- Expertise in Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Bicep.
- Strong knowledge of Docker and container orchestration.
- Flexibility and experience delivering solutions as part of Agile project teams.
- Proven ability to enforce governance and compliance in public sector projects. Desirable
- Microsoft certifications in DevOps or Azure.
- Familiarity with case management and business process-heavy applications. Key Performance Indicators
- Utilisation target of 80% for direct roles.
- KPI's achievable for the role that follow SMART guidelines.
- Complete assigned tasks/projects within agreed deadlines.
- Achieve less than 2% error rate in deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and policies.
- Complete mandatory training within set timelines.
