Key Responsibilities
Drive a vehicle while ensuring a high level of professionalism, safety, and reliability during the collection of donated food.
Perform routine vehicle checks – tyres, fuel level, oil, and water – before each shift; report any issues and coordinate required repairs with the Corps Officer.
Log vehicle activity in the vehicle logbook and wear a valid identification badge at all times.
Unload donated food, stock shelves and fridge/freezer, assemble food packs as required, and assist with food distribution during market days.
Qualifications and Skills
Current C class driver's licence and experience driving a small van (preferred).
Customer service experience (highly regarded).
Motivated, reliable, and able to self‐manage in a team setting.
Ethical conduct, respect for cultural diversity, and ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
Resilience to remain calm in challenging situations.
Commitment to workplace safety and well‐being.
Background Check Requirements
Because this role involves operating a Salvation Army vehicle and interacting with community members, the following checks are required: a Police Check, Working With Children Check, and for some volunteer positions, a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
Time Commitment
Monday to Friday, with various hours between 8am and 2pm.
