What you’ll do Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to advance frontier agent evaluations in technical accounting and reporting. As a Controllership Expert, you’ll build long-horizon technical accounting tasks that mirror the work you already do, each paired with a deterministic rubric that grades agent performance against verifiable ground truth. Tasks need to have checkable answers; no open‑ended essays, no subjective judgment calls. Expect to build scenarios across:
- External reporting: financial statements with defined tie‑out numbers, consolidations that roll to a specified total
- Technical accounting: ASC 606/842/805 fact patterns with a documented correct conclusion and citation
- Policy and controls: SOX narratives with required control attributes, statutory packages with required fields These scenarios will be challenging and take long sessions of focus. Who we’re looking for
- BS or MS in Accounting; 5+ years in controllership, technical accounting, or external reporting
- CPA strongly preferred
- Expertise in one or more of the following: ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 805, consolidations, SEC reporting, SOX
- Comfortable reading and producing controllership artifacts: financial statements, technical memos, consolidation workpapers, control narratives
- Explicit written communication; can articulate reasoning step by step and encode it into deterministic rubrics
