About the Role Kick Start participants receive provisional employment as a School Psychologist, professional support and supervision to complete provisional registration, and a comprehensive on‑site training programme. Psychology graduate with a 4‑year degree and currently on a 4+2 or 5+1 registration pathway. Flexible, resilient, and team‑oriented. Key Accountabilities Provide counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups, including short‑term therapeutic interventions within training and supervision limits. Engage with and implement the Skilled Practice Framework of the NSW School Counselling Service. Consult with principals, executives, staff, and support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement departmental priorities. Contribute to social, emotional, and academic development of students, supporting those with complex behavioural needs. Administer cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioural assessments; report results and collaborate to improve outcomes. Work collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents, carers, and agencies to develop appropriate school‑based support. Assist in responding to schools experiencing serious incidents. Refer students and families to external agencies when required. Essential Requirements Knowledge and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy, Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG Inc, and the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy. Registered or provisionally registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Australian citizenship or permanent residency. Valid Working with Children Check clearance (WWCC, NSW). Willingness and ability to travel between work sites; valid unrestricted provisional or full driver’s licence required. Start Date 20 July 2026.
