Description
About the Role We’re looking for a switched-on, curious Accounts Assistant to join our finance team
- someone who takes pride in getting the details right, but also enjoys asking “is there a smarter way to do this?” You’ll provide day-to-day support across accounts payable, reconciliations, trade finance administration, and general finance duties. Just as importantly, you’ll be a hands-on contributor as we continue to modernise how the team works
- exploring new tools, refining processes, and helping us get more out of the technology we already have. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety in their day, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and try new things. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the UMS Accounts inbox, responding to queries promptly and professionally.
- Prepare weekly creditor payment batches for management review and approval.
- Distribute customer statements and assist with debtor follow-up activities.
- Compile and maintain trade finance documentation required for daily trade finance payments.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations against ledger transactions.
- Process company credit card expenses and staff reimbursement claims.
- Monitor outstanding supplier and customer payments and follow up where required.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting.
- Respond to finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, or improve existing finance processes
- and help bring those ideas to life.
- Help the team adopt and get the most out of new and existing digital tools across the finance function. Skills & Experience
- Certificate, Diploma, or Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Accounts Payable, Bookkeeping, or similar finance support role.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence with accounting software (Xero experience highly regarded).
- Genuine comfort with technology
- quick to pick up new platforms and curious about how digital tools can make work better.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines. Personal Attributes
- Proactive self-starter who spots opportunities and acts on them rather than waiting to be asked.
- Curious mindset
- interested in better ways of working and willing to experiment.
- Strong problem-solving instincts and an analytical approach.
- High level of confidentiality and integrity.
- Reliable, adaptable, and genuinely team-oriented.
- Positive, professional attitude with a willingness to muck in where needed. Salary & Benefits
- Competitive hourly rate of $35.00
- $45.00 per hour, based on experience.
- Adaptable, family-oriented working environment.
- Supportive and collaborative team culture.
- Real opportunities for professional growth
- including exposure to new tools and ways of working that go well beyond a traditional accounts role. Apply on Kit Job: kitjobau.com/job/3r40ht
