About the role We are seeking a hands-on Operations Accountant / Assistant Accountant to support the day-to-day financial operations of our site. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is designed as a growth opportunity, with the goal of developing the successful candidate into a Site Financial Controller within 24 months. This is a practical, operational finance role suited to someone who enjoys being involved in the detail, improving processes, and supporting business operations. The role and initial responsibilities will be tailored to the successful candidate’s experience level, with broader responsibilities and development opportunities introduced over time. Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily site financial operations, including:
- Daily cashflow preparation and bank reconciliations
- Accounts payable processing, invoice entry, supplier reconciliations, and payment preparation
- Accounts receivable processing, invoice verification, receipting, and customer follow-up
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Ad hoc invoicing and financial administration support
- Support departments with:
- Expense tracking
- Budget preparation and cost management
- Work with the CFO and operations team to develop Variance reporting for site
- General finance support to the operations team
- Provide systems support across finance platforms including Xero, Fishbowl, and MEX integrations
- Partner with external accounting providers on BAS, tax preparation support, and general ledger management
- Assist with the rollout of financial processes, controls, and governance initiatives
- Support key finance projects including banking facility implementation and Xero account structure redesign About You
- Accounting qualification(s)
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a finance or accounting role
- Solid attention to detail and a hands-on approach
- Comfortable working across transactional finance and operational support
- Experience working in Xero preferred
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Eager to grow and develop into a broader finance leadership role Position Details
