Description
The Client Echuca Curry Club is a restaurant based in Echuca, VIC, specialising in authentic Indian cuisine and offering a diverse menu of traditional and modern dishes. The Role The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals in accordance with menu requirements, food safety standards, and kitchen operational procedures. This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $77,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation. The Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals following standard recipes, preparation methods, and kitchen procedures
- Present dishes attractively while maintaining consistency, taste, and portion standards
- Assist with food preparation and service activities under the direction of kitchen supervisors or chefs
- Monitor food quality and ensure meals are served at appropriate temperatures
- Follow daily menus, production schedules, and portion requirements during kitchen operations
- Check and record food temperatures to ensure compliance with food safety regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, equipment, and preparation areas
- Support stock rotation, ingredient storage, and inventory handling procedures
- Operate kitchen appliances and cooking equipment safely and efficiently
- Communicate with kitchen staff and supervisors regarding food preparation and operational requirements
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards
- Support kitchen operations during busy service periods while maintaining workflow efficiency The Requirements
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 12 months experience as a Cook within a commercial kitchen or hospitality environment
- Minimum 12 months of commercial experience using kitchen equipment such as tandoor, ovens, grills, and fryers
- Minimum 12 months years of experience with cooking curry and Tandoori
- Minimum 12 months of cooking experience with open fire and the Tandoor oven
- Minimum 12 months of experience in preparing Indian sauces and Tandoori rub mix from
- Must be able to work with proteins like beef, lamb and seafood
- Ability to follow recipes, portion requirements, and food preparation instructions accurately
- Strong understanding of food safety procedures and hygienic food handling practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Positive communication skills and ability to work effectively within a kitchen team
- Ability to manage workload and maintain consistency during service periods
