Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and reliable **Part-Time Baker** to prepare and bake **traditional Turkish bread (For Kebabs)** in a commercial kitchen. The role involves producing approximately **100-150 breads per day**, ensuring consistent quality, softness inside, and light crust outside.
This position suits someone with hands-on bakery experience who can work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced food environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare dough for Turkish bread using established recipes
- Accurately weigh, portion, shape, and proof dough
- Operate commercial baking equipment (deck oven, stone oven, or combi oven)
- Bake 100-150 Turkish breads daily to consistent quality standards
- Monitor fermentation, proofing times, and oven temperatures
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of bakery area
- Follow food safety and workplace health & safety standards
- Minimise wastage and maintain ingredient control
- Coordinate with kitchen or shop staff to meet daily demand
Required Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a **baker or bread maker** (Turkish, Middle Eastern, or flatbread experience preferred)
- Ability to consistently produce soft, fresh Turkish bread
- Comfortable working early mornings
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Knowledge of dough fermentation and baking processes
- Basic understanding of food safety (Food Safety Certificate preferred)
- Experience with **stone ovens, deck ovens, or combi ovens**:
- Experience in high-volume or takeaway food operations
- Knowledge of sourdough or long fermentation methods
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift flour bags and trays (up to ~20 kg)
- Manual handling of dough and bakery equipment
Pay Rate (competitive based on experience)
