Scientist (Longreach)

Working for Pathology Queensland in the Central West Hospital and Health Service (CWHHS) offers health professionals an opportunity to build broad clinical skills while enjoying an authentic outback lifestyle. CWHHS services a population of around 12,400 across 23% of QLD, operating 15 facilities, including the Longreach Hospital. The purpose of this role is to provide high-quality multidisciplinary pathology services within the Longreach laboratory, supporting diagnostic testing, specimen processing and quality laboratory operations across multiple pathology disciplines. What you'll do In this role you will perform diagnostic testing and result validation across core pathology disciplines, participate in specimen reception and on-call scientific rosters, undertake laboratory duties across Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Transfusion Medicine and Microbiology, provide advice and support to clinicians and stakeholders, contribute to quality and accreditation activities, support service improvement initiatives, develop scientific capability through ongoing learning, and assist with education and supervision of less experienced staff. About you We are searching for someone who:
- Holds a Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent qualification
- Has multidisciplinary pathology knowledge or experience
- Can work independently within a regional laboratory environment
- Has experience or interest across Microbiology and core laboratory disciplines
- Has strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Can participate in on-call, shift and weekend arrangements as required Key Benefits of Working with CWHHS: Three days professional development leave per annum, resulting in a total of six days professional development leave per annum & $3512.00 PDL P/Annum When commercial rental accommodation is accessed, from 1 June 2002 an amount of $82.50 per week is to be paid for a period of up to 17 months from the date of commencing duty at the centre or facility.
