About Us: Located in the bustling heart of Fortitude Valley within the Calile Hotel, our restaurants are renowned for exceptional cuisine, fresh ingredients, and warm hospitality. Join us in creating unforgettable dining experiences for our patrons. Responsibilities: As a Chef at Hellenika, you will:
- Engage in various food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients, and assist in basic cooking techniques such as boiling, steaming, and sautéing under the guidance of senior chefs.
- Support senior chefs by organising ingredients, ensuring the availability of necessary tools and equipment, and maintaining workstation cleanliness and hygiene.
- Accurately and consistently execute basic food preparation tasks, following recipes and instructions provided by senior chefs. Maintain a strong attention to detail to uphold quality standards.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies in your assigned station, promptly notifying senior chefs when stocks are running low and assisting in restocking as needed.
- Contribute to the maintenance and cleanliness of kitchen equipment, including cleaning and organising kitchen utensils, pots, pans, and cooking tools.
- Adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation practices in the kitchen, ensuring cleanliness in your work area, proper handling and storage of ingredients, and contributing to overall kitchen cleanliness.
- Support senior chefs and the kitchen team during service by assisting in plating and garnishing dishes, ensuring proper portioning, and coordinating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Actively seek opportunities to learn and develop culinary skills by observing and learning from senior chefs, participating in training sessions, and familiarising yourself with recipes, techniques, and kitchen operations.
- Foster a collaborative spirit by communicating effectively with senior chefs, fellow cooks, and kitchen assistants, ensuring seamless operations, timely service, and efficient teamwork in the kitchen. Qualifications and Skills: We are seeking candidates who possess:
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Commis Chef or similar role in a reputable restaurant. (minimum 2 years experience)
- Strong culinary skills and a passion for classic steakhouse dishes.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the culinary field.
