We are looking for a motivated and passionate Casual Commis Chef to join the PLG team at the Peninsula Club in Dromana. You’ll focus on basic food preparation tasks, support experienced chefs, and maintain a clean and organised kitchen. This opportunity is ideal for kitchen professionals ready to kickstart their career! Located on Gibson Street, just one street back from the Dromana Pier, the Peninsula Club operates seven days a week from 9am. With an expanded TAB, outdoor decks, two bars and great staff, the Peninsula Club offers the ideal location for lunch with friends or family. What will my duties include?
- Prepare and cook menu as per cooking guidelines and set standards.
- Support senior chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks, including food assembly and plating.
- Ensure food and safety procedures are being followed.
- Maintaining control and leadership in the kitchen during service times in allocated section.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workstation. The role you are applying for may be quite fast‑paced and require you to complete tasks including but not limited to lifting boxes, kegs or stock, standing for long periods of time, and utilising stairs. What we are looking for:
- Hold a Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
- Food Handlers Certificate.
- Experience working in a pub/bistro quick‑paced environment.
- Understanding of fundamental cooking methods and recipe execution.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Why you’ll love working here:
