- Calm, Professional Healthcare Kitchen Location: Mt Eliza, VIC Salary: Circa $75K
- $80K + Super (depending on experience) Roster: Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 10:00am
- 6:30pm Cater Care is seeking a passionate and reliable Second Chef to support the Head Chef at a wellness and mental health facility in Mt Eliza. This is not your typical high-pressure kitchen role. Our site operates within a healthcare environment, where food is an key part of wellbeing, comfort, recovery, and routine. We’re looking for a chef who brings both strong cooking skills and a calm, supportive approach to the kitchen. Someone who values consistency, teamwork, and creating meals that genuinely make people feel cared for. - Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including coordination of staff, rosters, and training
- Undertake hands-on cooking across bulk meal preparation and tray service
- Prepare high-volume meals to specification with consistent quality, presentation, and timing
- Manage stock control, ordering, rotation, cost management, and waste reduction
- Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, WHS, and cleanliness standards
- Support clear communication between Kitchen and Front of House to ensure smooth service delivery Skills and Experiences: About You Essential Skills & Experience
- Trade qualified Chef (Commercial Cookery or equivalent)
- Previous experience as a Chef or Second Chef in high-volume institutional or healthcare catering
- Current driver’s licence, reliable transport, and valid Australian work rights Professional Requirements
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain on commencement)
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace standards in a healthcare environment
- Clear, respectful communication and ability to support team coordination Personal Attributes & Approach
- Calm, composed, and professional in your approach to kitchen work
- Comfortable working in a structured, care-focused environment (not high-pressure or aggressive kitchen culture)
- Respectful of boundaries, confidentiality, and the sensitivity of a healthcare setting
