- Fremantle) + 14.5% superannuation About the role The Lead Architect drives the design and delivery of scalable, secure solution architectures that align with the University’s strategic objectives across Learning & Teaching, Research, and Administration. The role bridges enterprise and solution architecture by providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and governance to ensure cohesive, fit‑for‑purpose technology ecosystems. It also plays a key role in enabling digital transformation through strong integration architecture, collaboration with key stakeholders, and a focus on innovation and security. Key Responsibilities
- Define, enhance, and embed architecture governance frameworks, standards, and processes across the University to ensure consistency and alignment with institutional objectives.
- Act as the primary advisor on architectural matters, influencing strategic IT decision‑making and ensuring alignment with contemporary and emerging technology trends.
- Lead solution architecture activities by designing secure, scalable solutions aligned to the University’s digital, application, and data ecosystems, delivering work directly or through well‑defined external architect work packages.
- Partner with the Integration Lead to develop and refine the University’s integration landscape, ensuring seamless interoperability across systems.
- Provide expert guidance on cloud and security architecture, particularly Azure, leveraging Microsoft Unified Support to develop robust architectural artifacts.
- Drive digital transformation and innovation by identifying emerging technology opportunities, supporting business cases and procurements, mentoring team members, and collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders, vendors, and consultants. Qualifications, skills & experience
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent extensive experience in a similar role.
- Extensive experience in Solution Architecture across data, integration, technology, and security domains, with exposure to Enterprise or Business Architecture.
- Proven capability in developing business cases, defining business and technical requirements, and delivering conceptual, logical, physical and technical designs, roadmaps, and lifecycle management for enterprise and modern workplace technologies.
- Strong expertise in cloud environments, particularly Azure, and the data, security, and digital domains.
- Demonstrated experience developing scalable integration solutions, providing technical leadership and governance, ensuring secure, scalable, and resilient solutions aligned with architecture frameworks, standards, policies, and contemporary digital trends.
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders, mentor high‑performing teams, collaborate with vendors, and balance long‑term strategy with immediate delivery needs. Benefits
